                                                      FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Little Village Montessori school will open its doors to the children of North Georgia this fall!

The Little Village Montessori School is Dahlonega’s first Montessori preschool, serving children ages three to six.  The preschool is a ministry of the Dahlonega Presbyterian Church, located in the historic district of Downtown Dahlonega. The Montessori method of educating young children was established by Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physicist

Students and staff members at The Little Village Montessori School, 150 Warwick Street , are busier than ever this week as they put final touches on the prepared environment. The school will be joining more than 5,000 Montessori schools across the U.S. and around the world, including over 200 sponsored by public school districts.  The school is inviting parents of the North Georgia community to come take a firsthand look at the child-centered, individualized approach developed almost 100 years ago by Dr. Maria Montessori, Italy’s first female physicist.

"The Montessori system may be one of the best-kept secrets in education," says school head Dr. Chris Dockery.  "We believe all parents should know about this educational option, and paying a visit during this pre-enrollment period will give them a good opportunity to find out."  To schedule a visit or obtain information, Dr. Dockery  advises parents to contact the school office at 8283612427.

Parents and professionals alike claim that the Montessori approach is on the cutting edge of today's school reform movement, which identifies innovations, that have been part of Montessori classrooms since 1907.  Multi-age groupings, a rich and extensive curriculum implemented with beautiful, hands-on materials, interdisciplinary learning, and care of the each other and the world are just a few of these innovative characteristics, according to Dr. Dockery, all in a school setting with a "family atmosphere."  The Little Village Montessori serves children ages 3-6.
